Areti Lymperopoulou Wright—2006 to 2008

Areti Lymperopoulou Wright was born and raised in Patra, Greece. Having showed a talent for music from an early age, she took piano lessons and joined a local choir at the age of 10. After secondary school she taught music (piano and theory) in the Achaiko and Polymnio Conservatories in Patra, as well as English as a foreign language at Latsi language school. She never stopped being a member of choirs, as a singer and later as an accompanist/conductor’s assistant.
She had an opportunity to attend several seminars about the Kodaly concept of music education and developed a strong interest after seeing how its application makes music so much more accessible to people of all ages and abilities. As a result, she went to Kecskemet, Hungary, at the Kodaly Pedagogical Institute of Music, where she studied choral conducting with Professor Peter Erdei and Dr. Katalin Kiss and teaching methodology with Sarolta Platthy and Klara Nemes. She is a member of the International Kodaly Society (IKS) and a recipient of the society’s scholarship for the academic year 2005–2006.
Areti now works as a private music teacher and a choral director. She holds full membership with the Association of British Choral Directors and the Incorporated Society of Musicians, and has recently accepted a place at the Birmingham Conservatoire where she will study for a Master’s Degree in Choral Conducting.
