We sang round the Christmas tree’ in the Town centre to entertain the Christmas Shoppers.
The choir were filmed singing a specially written ’12 days to Switchover’ outside the Town Hall in sub-zero temperatures for the Digital Switchover Campaign.
We joined PMVC for a Christmas concert at Voyager School.
Peterborough Young Singers and a Peterborough Baroque Ensemble performed an evening of popular classics in the stunning setting of Peterborough Cathedral.
As the name suggests the concert was performed primarily by candlelight and this set the atmosphere perfectly for the singing of repertoire by both Bach and Vivaldi.
The north transept was filled with the four part harmonies from the choir and supporting guest singers; including past members of Peterborough Young Singers who helped with the duets. Mulled wine and mince pies were served in the south transept during the interval; giving the audience time to socialise, meeting up with old friends and making new acquaintances.
An evening which impressed guests including the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Peterborough.
Peterborough Young Singers hosted the Peterborough Big Sing event in the cathedral. We were joined by children from primary schools around the city. The audience, which filled the cathedral, were treated to a fine performance from the youngsters, who had a wonderfull time.
The choir were all smartly turned out when we were invited to sing at a wedding at St Peters and All Souls Church.
During half term the choir performed for the Peterborough Council for Voluntary Service anniversary dinnersang at the Bull Hotel.
We held a workshop with William Law Primary School
which was very well attended. At the end of the afternoon, children gave a very good short performance for their parents.
In what has become an annual event, the Senior choirs third choir travelled down to the Royal Albert Hall to join the massed choir performing Faure’s Requiem and the premier performance of Karl Jenkins “Gloria”.
Singing in the Royal Albert Hall was ‘really amazing’ and a good end to a busy year for the choir.
Our final concert of the year was held on a fine summer’s evening in the outdoor amphitheatre at Hampton College.
The choir closed the year with a very fine performance.
‘Good Luck’ to those members who are leaving us, we hope that you will come back to visit us in the future. We also said goodbye to our Musical Director, Ben. Good luck to everyone in the future!
